Jack and Sylvia Gin – TRU Newsroom

June 10, 2024 at 6:52 pm  Education, Kamloops, News

Thank you to donors, Jack and Sylvia Gin. Through the Jack and Sylvia Gin Foundation, they are topping up their award for the Private Frederick Lee Scholarship to ensure their endowment continues helping students well into the future.

The Private Frederick Lee Scholarship was started in memory of Private Frederick Lee, an honour roll Kamloops student who experienced barriers in pursuing higher education because of his race. He was able to volunteer for service with the Rocky Mountain Rangers and gave his life at the Battle of Hill 70 as a soldier of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. This scholarship honours his memory by awarding a student with a strong GPA, with preference given to a member of Indigenous or racialized communities.  Learn more at http://findingfredlee.com
