Build Kamloops – The other side of events

June 10, 2024 at 11:39 am  Kamloops, Municipal, Politics

We know new spaces help us keep pace with our recreation and leisure needs as Canada’s third fastest-growing city, but theres there’s other benefits to our visionary program: the economic spinoff and the social health of our community.

Economic spinoff
Events are economic engines. Hosting sporting, business, cultural and entertainment events brings visitors, and when visitors come to Kamloops for these events, they spend money on accommodation, dining, shopping, and more. This influx of spending supports local businesses and creates jobs, enhancing the overall economic health of our community.

Social health
Volunteering at events is a fantastic way to meet new people and strengthen social ties. Whether it’s helping out at a local festival or assisting in organizing a community fair, volunteering brings people together and fosters a sense of belonging. These events help the community create lasting connections, build friendships, and enhance mental well-being. Volunteers often report feeling more engaged and connected to their community, which contributes to a healthier and happier Kamloops. 😊

Build. Grow. Connect. Repeat. #buildkamloops
