NDP statement on the 109th anniversary of the Armenian genocide « Canada’s NDP

NDP foreign affairs critic Heather McPherson (Edmonton Strathcona) made the following statement:

“This year marks the 109th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.

Over 1.5 million Armenians were mercilessly killed as the word stayed silent. This genocide is a stain on humanity.

On this solemn anniversary we remember the victims and honour their memory. We stand with the Armenian community in Canada and worldwide.

Today and every day, New Democrats continue to work for human rights and dignity for all, and commit ourselves to fighting against impunity for genocide and other mass atrocity crimes.”
