MLA Cullen says funding for local airport will support services in the region
DEASE LAKE – New Democrat MLA Cullen says people and businesses will benefit from funding announced today for regional airport upgrades.
“Regional airports provide much needed transportation options to people who live and work in northern communities”, says Nathan Cullen, MLA for Stikine. “This investment into Dease Lake airport ensures a secure facility, keeping flights on time and getting people where they need to go safely. I’m proud of our government’s partnership with the Tahltan First Nation that helps to build infrastructure and support services for communities and the mining industry.”
In Kitimat-Stikine, the Dease Lake Airport is getting $918,652 for perimeter fencing.
Across the province, the New Democrat government is investing $11 million this year to support 26 projects at two dozen regional airports through the BC Air Access Program. The program is open to facilities that serve fewer than one million passengers per year.
Since 2017, the BC Air Access Program has provided more than $63 million in grants to support infrastructure improvement projects at 71 regional airports and air facilities.
