MLA Chandra Herbert says funding for local airport will support services in Vancouver
VANCOUVER – New Democrat MLA Spencer Chandra Herbert says people and businesses will benefit from funding announced today for regional airport upgrades.
“The Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre is a vital link for local travellers and businesspeople alike,” said Spencer Chandra-Herbert, MLA for Vancouver-West End. “This funding will help make the flight centre more accessible so more people can take advantage of the quick, efficient flights going to and from the Vancouver Harbour.”
In Vancouver, the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre is getting $12,675 for an adaptive aircraft passenger lift for accessibility.
Across the province, the New Democrat government is investing $11 million this year to support 26 projects at two dozen regional airports through the BC Air Access Program. The program is open to facilities that serve fewer than one million passengers per year.
Since 2017, the BC Air Access Program has provided more than $63 million in grants to support infrastructure improvement projects at 71 regional airports and air facilities.
