NDP fighting for relief for families while Pierre Poilievre wants you to pay more for child care « Canada’s NDP

NDP critic for Children, Families, and Social Development MP Leah Gazan (Winnipeg Centre) made the following statement:

“The government’s announcement today on childcare is a direct result of advocacy by the NDP, care workers, unions, and women’s organizations. With New Democrats at the table, we’ve forced the Liberals to respond to the needs of parents for quality, affordable child care for their little ones. The NDP will keep fighting, in partnership with families and childcare advocate, to address fair wages, pensions and better working conditions for child-care workers—they deserve nothing less.

Shamefully, Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives have tried to stall the program at every step. They’ve pushed for a for-profit private system that parents can’t afford which would leave childcare workers worse off. Given the chance, Pierre Poilievre would cut the hard-fought supports that working families depend on—like this child-care program.

While Poilievre works for the ultra-rich and slashes the services Canadians rely on, New Democrats work for everyday working families.”
