NDP Statement on the occasion of Purim 2024 « Canada’s NDP

Canada’s NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh made the following statement:

“Chag Smeach! Saturday evening, Jewish people in Canada and across the world will begin celebrating Purim.

This holiday reminds us of the triumph of good over evil and the importance of courage in the face of adversity.

As we celebrate Queen Esther’s bravery and the continued bravery of Jewish people in the face of persecution, let’s commit to working together and building a stronger, more inclusive country.

Jewish Canadians have seen a rise in antisemitism across the country, and now more than ever, it is important that all Canadians stand in solidarity and root out hatred wherever it occurs.

Purim is a celebratory occasion, with families and friends coming together to give the gift of food and drink, give to those in need, eat Hamantaschen and read the Megillah.

On behalf of all New Democrats, I wish everyone a fun and festive celebration!
