MLA Susie Chant says delivering new affordable homes funded by provincial government will help renters
NORTH VANCOUVER – New Democrat MLA Susie Chant says that funding announced today will deliver much needed affordable rentals to their community to help those with moderate and low incomes find homes that fit their budgets.
“Everyone deserves to have a place to call home, and projects like this help make sure we keep North Vancouver a place that’s welcoming for all to live in,” says Susie Chant, MLA for North Vancouver – Seymour. “I love the work of More Than a Roof Housing Society, and I can’t wait to see this project come to life thanks to the Community Housing Fund.”
In North Vancouver, More Than a Roof Housing Society is building 166 homes for families and seniors, through a partnership with Building BC: Community Housing Fund (CHF).
The CHF is a $3.3-billion investment to build more than 20,000 affordable rental homes for people with moderate and low incomes by 2031-32.
Projects were prioritized based on several criteria, including prioritized populations and the effect the project would have in addressing the community’s affordable rental housing need.
