February 29, 2024. Kamloops, B.C.: Tourism Kamloops is thrilled to announce the launch of the Destination Events Support Fund for 2024-2025 off-peak months, signaling another exciting season of fostering vibrant experiences in the heart of Kamloops. This initiative invites businesses and organizations to propose destination events that elevate Kamloops as a year-round destination during off-peak months of October through April.

Through this initiative, we aim to generate incremental visitation and overnight stays, maximizing the city’s tourism potential in a focused time period. New events help to drive economic growth, stimulate advocacy for Kamloops in key target markets, and elevate community pride and connection.

“Kamloops is brimming with untapped potential during these quieter periods, and the return of the Destination Events Support Fund underscores our commitment to unlocking this potential,” said Monica Dickinson, CEO of Tourism Kamloops. “Through collaborative efforts with local businesses and organizations, we hope to create new and unique opportunities for visitors to come and experience Kamloops, while also generating pride amongst Kamloopsians.”

Central to this initiative is the engagement of both local partners and external event producers, inviting fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the table. We’re looking for proposals that are innovative, engaging, and tailored to the diverse interests of our target audience, ensuring a dynamic lineup of events that captivate and inspire.

The selection criteria prioritize the development of new, large-scale events, encompassing multi-day activations and strategic overnight stays, with funding support available for up to 50% of eligible project expenses or $25,000, whichever is greater. Decisions regarding funding allocations will be based on the alignment of proposals with program priorities, evaluation criteria, and overall demand for funds.

Tourism Kamloops welcomes all interested parties to submit their proposals. For more information and to submit your proposals, please visit: https://www.tourismkamloops.com/destination-event-support-fund-rfp/.

Proposals will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The event(s) are to take place between October 2024 and April 2025.
