Storm Sweep Sicamous: Move to Second In Birks Division

SICAMOUS,BC—The Kamloops Storm have moved into second place in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League’s Doug Birks Division.
This follows a weekend sweep of the Sicamous Eagles. On Saturday (February 3) the Storm won at home over Sicamous 4-1. On Sunday (Feb 4), the two teams met in the Shuswap where Kamloops came away with a 3-0 victory.
The result gives both teams 59 points. Kamloops has played 40 games and have 29 wins, 10 losses and a shootout loss. Sicamous has played 41 contests and have a record of 29 wins, 11 defeats and one overtime loss.
On Sunday, Colton Phillips-Watts (Quesnel, BC) handled 24 saves for his third shutout of the season. His season record improved to 18-9-0-1.
Kamloops was led by Ryan Larsen (Kamloops, BC). He had two goals. Both came on the power play. He has 15 goals on the season. The other Storm goal came off the stick of Nathan Bohmer (Logan Lake, BC). He has 16 on the year. Bohmer added one assist.
Kamloops led 1-0 after the first and were up 2-0 after two periods. Dylan Marshall (Saskatoon, SK) was in goal for the Eagles. He made 13 saves as his record dips to 14-5-1.
In Saturday’s victory, Kamloops goals came from Bohmer, Ty Horner (Kamloops, BC), Teghan Mullin (Kamloops, BC) and Evan Clark (Kamloops, BC). Clark had an assist on Sunday and has 16 points in his last 12 games.
In what very well could be a first round KIJHL playoff series between these teams, the sweep by Kamloops gave each team three victories against each other.
The Storm is on the road next weekend meeting the Birks Division leading Revelstoke Grizzlies Friday (Feb 9) at the Revelstoke Forum. The next night (Saturday, Feb 10), Kamloops visits the Wranglers in 100 Mile House. The Storm’s final regular season KIJHL game is Friday February 16th at Mac Isle against the Summerland Steam.
Sicamous has one game next week: Wednesday (Feb 7) in 100 Mile House.
