Bohmer scores two, Holitzki wins 10th in Storm victory over Knights
KAMLOOPS, BC—The Kamloops Storm opened up a two-games-in-two-nights ‘home and home’ series with the North Okanagan Knights on the right note. Friday (Jan 26) at Mac Isle, the Storm broke open a scoreless first period tie scoring five unanswered goals in a 5-1 win over the Knights.
Kamloops’ first and last goals were scored by the same person. Overage forward Nathan Bohmer (Logan Lake, BC) now has 14 goals on the year. Other Kamloops goals came from Braycen Dube (Cranbrook, BC), Nathan MacPherson (Prince George, BC) and Ryan Larsen (Kamloops, BC).
Larsen added an assist on MacPherson’s goal and has 36 points on the year. He also has 98 career Kootenay International Junior Hockey League points. He is 11th on the all-time Kamloops Storm scoring list, one behind Mitchell Friesen. Larseon has 11 points in his last six outings.
Rookie goaltender Dawson Holitzki (Kelowna, BC) stopped 25 shots in goal for Kamloops. It was his 10 th straight KIJHL victory. Josh Hagar (Calgary, AB) faced 37 shots in the nets for North Okanagan.
Luke Rishaug (West Kelowna, BC), the nephew of TSN broadcaster and former Kamloops Blazer Ryan Rishaug had the lone goal for the Knights. He extended his league leading goal scoring streak to four games (he has six points in that time).
Kamloops moves to 27-9-0-1 on the year. The Knights fall to 13-18-0-6. The two teams will play Saturday (Jan 27) in Armstrong. Puck drop will be 7:15 PM.
Next home game for the Storm will be Saturday February 3rd. It is their annual “Wiener Dog” races game: where funds raised will go to the Angels Animal Rescue Society of the Nicola Valley. Game time is 7 PM.
ICE CHIPS: The Storm are 5-1-1-1 against the Knights in the last five years. Kamloops Captain Evan Clark (Kamloops, BC) had an assist on Larsen’s goal and now has 12 points in his last eight games.
