Shelton, Martin & Holitzki named KIJHL 3 Stars
Kaelan Shelton (Columbia Valley Rockies), Eric Martin (Fernie Ghostriders) and Dawson Holitzki (Kamloops Storm) have been selected the Hudl Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Jan. 7/24.
Shelton – Top Forward – The St. Albert, Alta., product had three goals and three assists in two games for the Rockies. In a 6-5 shootout loss over Golden, Shelton had two assists, including setting up the opening goal. In a 7-6 shootout win over Fernie, Shelton had three goals and an assist. In 28 games, Shelton has 12 goals and 11 assists.
Martin – Top Defenceman –The Edmonton, Alta., product had a goal and five assists in three games for the Ghostriders. In their 4-3 overtime loss to Creston Valley, Martin had an assist. In their 7-3 win over Golden, Martin had three assists, including on the winning goal. In their 7-6 shootout loss to Columbia Valley, Martin had a goal and assist. In 14 games, Martin has five goals and 20 points and is on a five-game point streak with four goals and six assists. It’s the second straight week that Martin has been selected as the Top Defenceman.
Holitzki – Top Goalie – The Kelowna product stopped 26 of 27 shots against the 100 Mile House Wranglers in a 4-1 win. Holitzki stopped the first 14 shots he faced in the first and second period and finished with a .963 save percentage. In 11 games this season, Holitzki has nine wins with 2.35 goals against average and a .917 SP.
