KIJHL Power Rankings – Week 16 (Jan. 7/24)

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its 16th week of action for the 2023-24 regular season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on their performance over the past 10 games, including winning percentage.

 

Revelstoke Grizzlies
Last Week: 1
Record: 23-6-0

The Grizzlies began their Kootenay road trip with a 13-1 win over the Spokane Braves. The Grizzlies went 4-for-9 on the power-play, while their penalty-kill was perfect at 3-for-3. They lost to the Beaver Valley Nitehawks 5-2, going 1-for-7 on the power-play, while the penalty-kill went 6-for-7. The Grizzlies completed their trip with a 4-1 win over the Castlegar Rebels. They went 2-for-7 on the power-play and were perfect on their penalty-kill, 9-for-9.

 

Sicamous Eagles
Last Week: 2
Record: 24-5-1

The Eagles lost to the Princeton Posse 7-4 and were unable to score on the power-play, going 0-for-4. Their penalty-kill went 5-for-8. In a 4-2 win over the Chase Heat, the Eagles went 0-for-7 on the power-play and 6-for-8 on the penalty-kill.

 

Kamloops Storm
Last Week: Not ranked
Record: 22-8-0-1

The Storm opened their weekend with a 4-1 win over the 100 Mile House Wranglers. The power-play went 1-for-5, while the penalty-kill was perfect at 2-for-2. The Storm then lost 3-1 to the Princeton Posse and their power-play went 0-for-3, while the penalty-kill went 4-for-5. In their final game, the Storm earned a 4-1 win against the Kimberley Dynamiters. They went 2-for-10 on the power-play and the penalty-kill went 6-for-7.

 

Beaver Valley Nitehawks
Last Week: 4
Record: 21-8-0-1

The Nitehawks earned a 5-2 win over the Revelstoke Grizzlies, scoring once on seven power-play opportunities. Their penalty-kill was 6-for-7.

 

Grand Forks Border Bruins
Last Week: Not ranked
Record: 20-9-1-2

The Border Bruins defeated the Castlegar Rebels 6-1 and their power-play struck twice on five opportunities, while their penalty-kill was perfect at 4-for-4. The Border Bruins then hit the road, defeating the Osoyoos Coyotes 4-3. The power-play went 1-for-2, while the penalty-kill, again was perfect, this time 2-for-2.
