VANCOUVER – New Democrat MLA Spencer Chandra Herbert says local organizations and parent advisory councils will be able to support young artists and extracurricular activities thanks to over $8 million in funding from the Community Gaming Grants arts and culture and parent advisory council initiatives.

“I am thrilled to announce this funding that will undoubtedly bolster the incredible work of our dedicated arts and culture organizations and parent advisory councils,” said Chandra Herbert, MLA for Vancouver-West End. “This support is part of our government’s commitment to nurturing the talents of artists and fostering a rich environment for extracurricular activities. Together, we are shaping a future where creativity flourishes and our youth can thrive.”

In Vancouver, 203 arts and culture organizations are receiving over $7 million in funding including:

  • Arts Umbrella Association, $250,000
  • PuSh International Performing Arts Festival Society, $60,500
  • Vancouver Fringe Theatre Society, $75,000
  • Vancouver Pride Society, $45,000

Additionally, 124 parent advisory councils in Vancouver are receiving over $1 million in total funding to support extracurricular events, activities and equipment.

More than $18.2 million in new funding will go to over 650 organizations to support arts and culture across the province, while more than $11.2 million will go to over 1,300 parent advisory councils and district parent advisory councils to support extracurricular activities.
