Storm lose to Sicamous in shootout but beat Golden in weekend KIJHL Play

The Kamloops Storm had a .500 weekend in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.
After dropping a 6-5 decision in a shootout in Sicamous on Friday (Dec 1), the Storm returned home to edge the Golden Rockets 3-2 on Saturday (Dec 2).
The Storm now have a record of 17-6-0-1.
On Friday night, Kamloops trailed 3-2 after the first period and 5-4 after 40minutes. At that point of the game, they had outshot the host Eagles 24-16.
Ryan Larsen, Hudson Clarke, Teghan Mullen, Sam Lewis and Andon Rende scored for Kamloops. Colton Phillips-Watts turned aside 32 shots in goal for the Storm.
On Saturday in Ty Horner’s KIJHL 100th game, the Storm and Rockets were tied at 1 after the first period. Larsen scoring for Kamloops to extend his point scoring streak to eight games. Kamloops scored twice in the second period to erase a 2-1 deficit. Evan Douglas and Mullen had the goals for the Storm. Dustin Holitzki faced 27 shots in goal for Kamloops as he raised his season record to 7-1.
The Storm have a tough contest Tuesday night (Dec 5). They will visit the Grizzlies in Revelstoke. This will be the fourth meeting of the year between the two teams but the first at the Revelstoke Forum. The Grizzlies have won the first three meetings. Kamloops sits in second spot in the Doug Birks Division with 35 points. That is five up on Revelstoke who have four games in hand on the Storm.
Next home game for Kamloops is Saturday Dec 9th when they host the Chase Heat. It is a 7 PM puck drop at the Olympic ice surface at Mac Isle. It is also the Storms “Teddy Bear’ toss night.
