The results put the Storm at 16-6 in the Doug Birks Division. That 32 points in good enough for second spot, five points back of the front running Sicamous Eagles. Both teams have played 22 games.
On Friday: Loch Stefanishyn (Winnipeg, MB) recorded his first KIJHL hat trick. Sam Lewis and Hudson Clarke (both Kamloops, BC) had the other goals for Kamloops. Dustin Holitzki (Kelowna, BC) stopped 35 shots in the victory. The game marked Ty Horner’s (Kamloops, BC) 100th career KIJHL game.
Saturday night: Horner and Sam Zulyniak (Kamloops, BC) had two goals a piece for Kamloops. Lewis, Stefanishyn, Rory Mumford (Kamloops, BC) and Ryan Larsen (Kamloops, BC) added singles. Colton Phillips-Watts (Quesnel, BC) recorded the victory in the nets . Grand Forks outshot Kamloops 45-40 in the contest.
The Storm finished the month of November with nine wins and two defeats. They are 7-3 on the road this KIJHL season.
Kamloops is off until Friday (Dec 1) when they visit the Eagles in Sicamous. Their next home game is Saturday (Dec 2) when the Golden Rockets make a stop at the McArthur Island Olympic ice surface. Face off both nights is 7 PM PST. Both games are available on a pay-per-view basis on FloHockeyTV.
Three members of the Storm: Teghan Mullin (Kamloops, BC), Jake Phillips-Watts (Quesnel, BC) and Thomas Clarke (Telkwa, BC) will be part of the KIJHL squad at this Tuesday’s (Nov 28) BCHC Top Prospects game. It will be held at the McArthur Island Olympic ice surface at 7 PM PST. Earlier in the day, there will be a skills evaluation conducted by Western Hockey League Combines. Both players from the KIJHL and the Pacific Coast Junior Hockey League Top Prospects will be evaluated.
