Canada’s NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh made the following statement:

“Today, people across Canada and worldwide celebrate Diwali, Deepavali and Bandi Chhor Divas.

With the festival of light today, let’s celebrate good over evil and light over darkness. On Bandi Chhor Divas, let us always remember the importance of championing social justice and fighting against political injustice.

As families gather to light lamps and come together, we should all commit to standing up for what’s right, choosing light, and working together to build a better, more just country for all.

On behalf of all New Democrats, I wish everyone a joyous Diwali, Deepavali, and Bandi Chhor Divas!”
