Kamloops Film Society Seeks Executive Director
As it enters its 50th year of operation, the Kamloops Film Society (KFS) is seeking an experienced leader to guide the Society into its next half century.
“We’re looking for an Executive Director, whose previous success in the arts and culture environment, can help our Society meet its strategic goals,” said Tom Friedman, chair of the KFS Board of Directors.
“The ideal candidate is someone with a passion for film, who will excel at resource development, community outreach, and a sophisticated artistic vision for the Society,” said Friedman.
“Our Board of Directors is excited about moving into this new era with a renewed sense of purpose.”
In its job posting, the Society requires that applicants have a proven track record in successful grant applications and experience in both administering a non-profit operation and carrying out the strategic plans of an arts Board of Directors.
The KFS has been screening films regularly in Kamloops since 1973, starting at Cariboo College. Since 2019, the KFS has operated the downtown Paramount Theatre and continues a long tradition of presenting a wide range of films, including holding the annual Kamloops Film Festival for the past 27 years. The Paramount Theatre has also become a cultural hub, with presentations including comedy, dance, lectures, social gatherings and family and business community celebrations.
