Weather that drove eastern Canada’s devastating wildfires made twice as likely by climate change – TRU Newsroom

The weather conditions that fueled record-shattering wildfires in eastern Canada earlier this summer were made more likely and more intense by the climate crisis, according to a new report. “If we see more days above fire intensity thresholds, we will see more escape fires, more area burned and more impacts to society,” says wildfire expert Dr. Mike Flannigan.
