Harry Bartlett

Harry Bartlett is a Canadian guitarist and composer currently living in Nashville, TN. With a background in jazz and an affinity for Americana music, Harry’s compositions “transcend a single genre” (Textura). Blending an improvisational approach with old time, folk, and western influences, his music is markedly personal.
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Harry moved to Toronto in 2016 to study jazz guitar at the University of Toronto and relocated again to Nashville in 2023 to pursue his interest in folk and string band music.  While he performs regularly as a band leader and a sideperson across North America, coastal BC continues to inspire much of his work.

Performing his own compositions with his band, Harry has appeared in festivals and venues including The 5 Spot (Nashville), Jazz YYC (Calgary), Music Niagara (Niagara), The Rex Hotel (Toronto), The  Brookstreet Hotel (Ottawa), Resonance Café (Montreal), Tangent Cafe  (Vancouver), Herman’s Jazz Club (Victoria), and the Lighthouse Bistro (Nanaimo).

In 2021 the Harry Bartlett Trio recorded Wildwood, which “blends Jazz, Folk, and Western music styles into an extraordinarily creative listening experience” (Midwest Book Review). The compositions were written and recorded over a 6 month period on Gambier Island BC. The rugged, isolated character of the BC coast permeate this record lending qualities of reverence and peace. Wildwood was released November 18th  2022. Following the success of Wildwood, Harry relocated to Nashville TN to pursue his interest in Appalachian folk music. Under the mentorship of esteemed composer and bluegrass guitarist Jordan Tice, Harry developed a repertoire of original works for guitar, violin, and double bass. With support from the Suba Institute, Harry recorded his latest project, “Mountain Air” with an all-star cast of Canadian folk-jazz musicians, including Aline Homzy on violin and Andrew Downing on bass. Released May 31st 2024, “Mountain Air” showcases Harry’s breadth as a composer and guitarist. In addition to an active performing career, Harry has toured public schools across Canada leading improvisation workshops. He developed these workshops in 2019 with the aid of the FMUA.

Harry holds a Bachelor of Music degree with honours from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music (2016-2020) and attended the School of Improvised Music in Brooklyn, New York (2019). He is the recipient of multiple awards including the Suba Institute Award for Performance Excellence, the Mary Alice Stuart Jazz Scholarship, a Neo-Traditional award from The Appalachian Music String Band Festival in West Virginia, and the TD Niagara Jazz Festival Jazz for the Ages Award.

Evan Snoey

An artist and creative at heart, Evan Snoey has explored and dived into many mediums of music and art. His background in traditional styles combined with a contemporary music education allow him to not only thrive in jazz, bluegrass, old-time, chamber and improvisatory music but to push and blend them together.

Evan has been playing music since he was five, first learning the fiddle. He grew up playing dance music, and has pursued many traditional styles since then. He sought out new instruments to learn, and new music to play. He has studied old- time, bluegrass, Scandinavian, Scottish, swing & jazz, and contemporary improvisational music.  In 2017, Evan was selected to participate in the competitive Savannah Music Festival Acoustic Music Seminar, which provided an opportunity to work intimately with masters like Mike Marshall, Bryan Sutton, Darell Scott, Darol Anger, Alex Hargreaves, Jenny Scheinman and more. Evan has also shared the stage with the likes of Peter Rowan, John Reischmann, and Robert Glasper. At the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, he  studied under Matt Turner and Jose Encarnacion, and got the opportunity to work alongside movement artist Mauriah Donegan Kraker. As a solo artist Evan has an EP of original music slated for release in Spring 2025.

Emilio

Emilio is a Calgary born musician and composer. His love for music brought him to Vancouver in 2015. He completed his studies and was awarded his bachelor of music in Jazz Studies at Capilano University in 2020. In Calgary Emilio studied double bass with Rubim DeToledo, Head of faculty of Grant Macewen Jazz Department, and Classical bass with Sheila Garrett, Assistant principle bass chair of the Calgary Philharmonic. Since then he has gone to study with Cody Hutchinson, John Day, and Vancouver’s own Darren Radtke, Andre Lechance, and Jodi Proznick. Emilio’s style is a dynamic range from jazz and bebop to contemporary, classical, and pop. He has been featured on many recordings that cross all these genres. His latest work is featured in recordings with Vancouver artists KAIS, 45th Avenue Jazz Band, Ilhan Saferali, Noriko Jazz, and EITHER EITHER.
