Celebrating International Women’s Day

BROADen Your Horizons

We’re gathering a group of extraordinary local women of various ages and specialties for an evening in celebration of International Women’s Day 2023. The first public event at the brand-new Kelson Hall will welcome women from all over the city to connect and grow with new experiences and inspiring thoughts.

The evening will start with an enlightening keynote talk about women’s health and wellness from STEPS (Supporting Team Excellence with Patients Society). STEPS is an innovative, new community health centre providing cutting-edge health facilities and access to quality health care and patient care in the Thompson-Cariboo-Shuswap area—including Women’s & Sexual Health Services, LGBTQ2S+ and TransCare, and Allied Health Providers.

The second half of the evening will offer several opportunities to try something new, stretch your body, heart, and mind, get creative, and interact with women from all different backgrounds, featuring:

  • Yoga & Mediation with Yoga Now
  • Essential oils & aromatherapy benefits with Saje Natural Wellness
  • Bollywood Dance lesson with Ishita & Apurva
  • Crafting with Lemon Thistle
  • Hair Care & Sparkle with Nurture Hair Salon – learn hair care tips & add a little sparkle to your hair with hair tinsel

A Broad’s Way Cabaret

The fourth annual all-female cabaret returns—this year at WCT’s newest venue in the heart of downtown Kamloops, Kelson Hall!

Join us for two-nights of electrifying live performances from some brilliant and bold local women! Everything from music and dance, to comedy and theatre will light up the stage of the brand-new Lori Marchand Theatre.

This celebration of community talent will feature artists you know and love from previous All A’Broad and A Broad’s Way cabarets, plus a few women brand-new to our stage.

A Broad’s Way Cabaret is inspired by International Women’s Day’s aims of leveraging women’s advancement, accelerating gender parity, reinforcing commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, and celebrating women’s achievements.

A Broad’s Way Cabaret is created by and for all women, including cis and trans women, non-binary people, and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Writing Herstory: Playwriting Workshop

Amplifying female voices and supporting new local plays is at the heart of this festival and WCT. We are excited to offer a Playwriting Workshop as part of this year’s A Broad’s Way Festival—pairing up two local writers with a playwriting mentors and a cast of actors to workshop a short piece.

This event is not open to the general public but stay tuned to WCT’s social media and E-news for updates and artist announcement.

More to come! Stay tuned for an announcement on our selected local Playwright in early March.
