PITT MEADOWS– New Democrat MLA Lisa Beare says funding for a local airport will help ensure a better experience for the people and businesses who rely on the airport.

“People don’t always consider how incredibly vital smaller airports can be. Pitt Meadows airport offers maintenance and training, including float plane pilot training. This funding will go a long way in making sure the Pitt Meadows airport can continue to serve people and businesses in the Valley and along the Fraser River!” said Lisa Beare, MLA for Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows

Pitt Meadows Regional airport is receiving nearly $1.6 million from the BC Air Access Program to pave the runway and rehabilitate and resurface the taxiway. $890,050 is dedicated to runway paving, and $666,850 for the resurfacing and rehabilitation of taxiways.

“We are grateful for the support of the provincial government to help fund these important pavement rehabilitation projects that are vital to our commitment to operational safety, long term sustainability, and ongoing corporate success here at Pitt Meadows Regional Airport,” said Guy Miller, General Manager of the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport.

Across the province, the BCAAP will support 40 projects at 29 air facilities, improving safety, security, and passenger facilities. Projects include runway extensions, improved runway lighting, pavement improvements, terminal enhancements, and better fire protection.

Since its launch in 2015, the BCAAP grant program has committed $66.8 million to infrastructure projects at 71 air facilities.
