CinéLoops French Film Fest

April 12, 2023 at 10:07 am  Entertainment

Our inaugural CinéLoops French Film Festival is this weekend! We are showing four French language feature films with English subtitles. We will have your Red Carpet photo opportunities to open the Festival on Thursday ahead of TU TE SOUVIENDRAS DE MOI/ YOU WILL REMEMBER ME at 6PM, which is about an academic who begins struggling with dementia. Post film, we will have a Q&A with actor Rémy Girard. The Oscar Nominated film CLOSE will be playing Friday at 6:30PM with surprise entertainment beforehand! Be sure to come out on Saturday at 1:30PM for crêpes, improv from FrancoFunny, and ASTÉRIX ET OBÉLIX: L’EMPIRE DU MILIEU/ ASTERIX AND OBELIX: THE MIDDLE KINGDOM! We are brewing a secret potion to give yourself the strength of the Gauls (try it if you dare!) and having a costume contest! And finally, like all the best French films, UNE BELLE COURSE/DRIVING MADELINE will take you on a taxi ride across Paris on Saturday at 6:30PM. Stick around after the movie for a wine and cheese tasting!

For more information, festival passes, and tickets, please visit www.thekfs.ca/festival-cineloops-french-film-festival/.

The Thursday Film Series presents SHE SAID this Thursday at 6:30PM. Follow New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor as they break one of the most important stories in a generation – a story that helped ignite a movement and shattered decades of silence around the subject of sexual assault in Hollywood.

On Friday, the Audience Favourite Film at the Kamloops Film Festival, ELVIS, is playing at 7PM. Then on Saturday, we have one final screening of JUNIPER at 2PM followed by the sports comedy CHAMPIONS at 7PM. Lastly, the Best of the Fest continues with the Canadian filmed GUITAR LESSONS starring Corb Lund this Sunday at 6PM.

Later this month, the Thursday Film Series will be closing out the 2022-2023 season with WOMEN TALKING, which won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 2023 Oscars. In honour of the anniversary of Superman’s first appearance, we are screening the 1978 SUPERMAN THE MOVIE starring Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, and Gene Hackman. National Canadian Film Day, brought to you in partnership with REEL Canada, is April 19th, so get ready for FREE screenings of the cult classic STRANGE BREW, and a documentary about Canadian activist and music icon, Buffy St. Marie in BUFFY ST. MARIE: CARRY IT ON. Finally, for Movie Theatre Day on April 23 we are showing CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON in recognition of Michelle Yeoh’s Best Actress Oscar win and all around bad ass-ness.

We want to show the best that independent, international, and Canadian cinema can offer, but we also want to show what you want to see. Please let us know what you thought about this year’s Kamloops Film Festival and Thursday Film Series, and fill out our survey!
