Law professor to serve as general counsel to the premier – TRU Newsroom

Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Faculty of Law Professor Craig Jones, K.C., has been retained by the attorney general of British Columbia to serve as general counsel to the premier.

Jones came to TRU in 2012 after serving as supervising counsel of the Constitutional and Administrative Law Group of the Ministry of Attorney General.  He received his law degree from UBC in 1998 and his Master of Laws degree from Harvard Law School in 2002.  In 2006, he was recognized as a distinguished alum of TRU Open Learning (where he completed his undergraduate degree), and was appointed Queen’s Counsel (now King’s Counsel) in 2011. He is the author of three books and numerous articles on constitutional law and class actions and has been counsel on numerous significant cases before the courts of BC and in the Supreme Court of Canada.

Jones will continue to teach his constitutional law class through the Winter semester.
