BLAZERS ACQUIRE 19-YEAR-OLD FORWARD JAKUB DEMEK – Kamloops Blazers
KAMLOOPS BLAZERS ADD 2003-BORN FORWARD JAKUB DEMEK
Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers have acquired 2003-born forward Jakub Demek from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for Regina’s 1st round pick in 2023, a conditional 2nd round pick in 2024, a conditional 3rd round pick in 2026 and a 4th round pick in 2026.
Demek, who is listed at 6’4” and 203lbs, won a WHL Championship with the Edmonton Oil Kings during the 2021-22 season. He put up 20 goals, 34 assists and 54 points in 55 games. He also finished third in team scoring with five goals, 12 assists and 17 points in 19 playoff games for the Oil Kings.
In three Memorial Cup games, Demek had one assist. He also set a Memorial Cup record with 26 faceoff wins in the opening game of the tournament against the Shawinigan Cataractes.
The Kosice, Slovakia native was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Draft. He represented Slovakia at the 2022 World Junior Championship in August

Demek will join the Blazers later this week. He is currently on the injured reserve and is expected to return to play in late January.
