The first-ever sneak peek at the Kamloops International Buskers Festival is scheduled for next Wednesday night. This will be a comedy, magical and musical fundraiser for BC Interior Community Foundation (BCICF).

The event, Buskers and Blues, will be held on Wednesday, July 20, starting at 7 pm at the Paramount Theatre downtown.

“We are excited to host this event in cooperation with the Kamloops International Buskers Festival. Not only will the community have the opportunity to watch an incredible performance, but the net proceeds from this event will also help BCICF continue to support our communities through charitable granting and scholarship/bursary programs,” says executive director Wenda Noonan.

The night will kick off with a rockin’ blues set from crowd favourites Sabrina Weeks and Mike Hilliard. The duo fronts the award-winning blues band ‘Swing Cat Bounce’ and has been known to sail the high seas with Princess Cruise lines as part of their entertainment team.

Magic Brian – Conjurer of Comedy, is an internationally award-winning performer. He has travelled the world and entertained the masses with his comedy-magic and sideshow act. He’ll make you laugh and make you wonder, all in the same evening.

“We’re hoping for a full house for this event,” Wenda says. “The Foundation has deep roots in our community and benefits everyone. There’s so much important work to be done, and while Buskers and Blues will definitely be a great evening, it will also provide us with funding to help support the work we do.”

Since 1984, the BCICF has supported communities in the Thompson, Nicola and South Cariboo regions, managing over $10 million in endowed assets. This year, they have $600,000 of annual investment income to disburse to the communities within our region.
