Ministers and MPs scrum on passport delays, rising inflation, papal visit – June 23, 2022

Karina Gould, the minister responsible for Service Canada, provides an update on the government’s efforts to reduce the backlog at passport offices. Service Canada is implementing triage measures at major cities across the country. Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is asked about her government’s response to rising inflation. NDP transport critic Taylor Bachrach and NDP House leader Peter Julian discuss the ongoing passport delays. Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Marc Miller is asked about Pope Francis’ upcoming visit to Canada. As the House of Commons adjourns for the summer, Green Party parliamentary leader Elizabeth May raises concerns about the level of civility among parliamentarians.
