Garnett Genuis, the Conservative critic for international development, and Conservative Senator Leo Housakos call on the federal government to ban imports of goods made with forced labour from the Xinjiang region of China. Senator Housakos introduced a bill in November 2021 that would impose such a ban. Joining the parliamentarians at the news conference on Parliament Hill are Sarah Teich, an international human rights lawyer and senior fellow at the Macdonald Laurier Institute, as well as former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom, an outspoken critic of China’s policies toward Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims.
