Alberta Premier Jason Kenney on building front-line health-care capacity – May 13, 2022

In Calgary, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney provides an update on efforts to build health system capacity and add more critical care hospital beds. He announces that 19 of the province’s 50 promised new ICU beds are open and the remaining will be ready near the end of September. He is joined by Jason Copping (provincial minister of health) as well as Alberta Health Services representatives Gregory Turnbull (chair of the board), Dr. Sid Viner (vice-president of clinical operations) and Dr. Dan Zuege (senior medical director of the Critical Care Strategic Clinical Network). In response to questions from reporters, Premier Kenney comments on his upcoming address to the American Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, as well as Pope Francis’ trip to Canada in July.
