In Toronto, Carolyn Bennett, the federal minister of mental health and addictions, announces nearly $3.8 million in funding for mental health crisis support services. She adds that $2 million of the funds will go towards the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the remaining $1.7 million will support 13 distress centres across Canada. This funding is part of a $50-million investment first announced in the federal government’s 2020 fall economic statement to support distress centres. Minister Bennett is joined by Tracy MacArthur, president and CEO of CAMH, and Allison Crawford, chief medical officer for Canada Suicide Prevention.
