Federal Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault holds a virtual news conference to discuss the latest report from the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The report concludes that the world must rapidly transition away from coal and other fossil fuels, and that further emission cuts are needed to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Guilbeault also faces questions from reporters about the federal government’s new plan to reach its emission-reduction targets by 2030.
