Ottawa commits $2B to help reduce surgical backlog caused by pandemic – March 25, 2022

In Ottawa, Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos discusses the federal government’s newly introduced legislation (C-17) that commits an additional $2 billion in health-care funding to help reduce the backlog of surgeries delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He also lays out the government’s vision for the future of federal and provincial collaboration on health care. Duclos is joined by ministers Carolyn Bennett (mental health and addictions and associate minister of health), Kamal Khera (seniors), and Mona Fortier (president of the Treasury Board and MP for Ottawa–Vanier), as well as Sylvain Charbonneau (vice-president of research and innovation at the University of Ottawa).
