Ontario Premier Doug Ford on medical school supports and potential college strike – March 15, 2022

In Brampton, Ontario Premier Doug Ford announces that the province is expanding the number of undergraduate and postgraduate positions over five years at all six of Ontario’s medical schools. He is joined by provincial ministers Christine Elliott (health) and Jill Dunlop (colleges and universities), as well as MPP Amarjot Sandhu (Brampton West) and Mohamed Lachemi (president and vice-chancellor of Ryerson University). In response to questions from reporters, Premier Ford comments on his government’s response to the Omicron BA.2 sub-variant, the province’s temporary wage increases for personal support workers, and a potential province-wide college strike by faculty members and support staff.
