Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announces fuel tax tax, rebate for electricity bills – March 7, 2022

March 7, 2022 at 12:34 pm  Federal, Politics

In Edmonton, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announces his government will end the provincial fuel tax in an effort to help residents deal with rising gas prices. The tax cut means the price of gas will drop by 13 cents a litre, starting April 1. Kenney also announces the government will provide $150 rebates to help Albertans pay for higher electricity bills from this past winter. Legislation will be introduced as soon as possible to implement the retroactive rebates. The premier is joined by Travis Toews, provincial minister of finance, and Dale Nally, associate minister of natural gas and electricity. Kenney is also asked about sanctions imposed against Russia amid the Ukraine crisis and the future of the Keystone XL pipeline project.
