PM Trudeau announces more military aid to Ukraine in response to Russian invasion – Feb. 28, 2022

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau holds a news conference on Parliament Hill to provide an update on Canada’s response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He is joined by Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland as well as ministers Anita Anand (national defence) and Sean Fraser (immigration, refugees and citizenship). Trudeau announces Canada will send anti-tank weapons systems and upgraded ammunition to Ukraine. Canada will also ban all crude oil imports from Russia. The Canadian Armed Forces will also provide airlift support for the transportation of supplies and aid. Earlier in the day, the prime minister participated in a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden and other foreign leaders to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
