In Whitehorse, Ranj Pillai, Yukon’s minister of economic development, and Dr. Catherine Elliott, Yukon’s acting chief medical officer of health, provide an update on the territory’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting February 11, the territory will loosen restrictions for sports and recreational activities, increase indoor and outdoor gatherings, and expand capacity limits for venues. The territory is also launching new funding supports for struggling bars and restaurants, and is streamlining the Yukon nominee program, which allows businesses to recruit foreign nationals to fill job vacancies.
