January 31, 2022 at 12:19 pm  Business, Kamloops, Tourism

Tim Rodgers, General Manager, of the Best Western Plus Kamloops Hotel, has
won the Inaugural Thompson Okanagan Tourism Associations 2021 Pioneer
Award! The Pioneer Award is a new award developed in 2021, that honours fresh
ideas and new solutions to sustainable tourism. Tim Rodgers was the first Hotel
General Manager in Kamloops to obtain a Green Key Rating.

He may be known around the city for his great golf game, but he also has a
passion for sustainability. He has been instrumental in making brand changes
throughout Best Western regarding using more environment friendly products,
such the green towel program. The last couple years has been difficult due to
Covid and needing to use more single use food and beverage dishes/cutlery, and
more chemicals to sanitize properly, but at the Best Western Plus Kamloops
Hotel, he has purchased as many biodegradable dishes and cutlery as possible,
and Lotus Pro, which uses ozonated water to clean and sanitize public spaces and
guest rooms. The Lotus Pro also reduces allergic reactions caused by perfume
allergies. The owner’s and staff at the Best Western Plus Kamloops Hotel are so
proud of Tim for his accomplishments and leadership, and we want to
congratulate Tim on his very deserved award.
