The City of Kamloops is pleased to announce the successful recipients of the 2022 Social and Community Development Grants.

The City issued a call for applications for the 2022 Social and Community Development Grants in October 2021 and received 19 not-for-profit organization submissions. After a thorough evaluation process, which was facilitated by City staff, and based on the recommendations of the Social Planning Engagement Group, the following nine organizations have been awarded funding by the Community and Protective Services Department:

  • ASK Wellness – $20,586
  • A Way Home Kamloops – $5,790
  • Kamloops Music Collective – $2,000
  • People in Motion – $30,000
  • Spinal Cord Injury BC – $5,000
  • The Mustard Seed – $15,000
  • Consent Café (Thompson Rivers University) – $11,651

Social and Community Development Grants fund special projects, operational costs, and/or capital expenditures that address specific current social problems and/or issues that are identified in the City’s Social Plan or the Livability pillar of the Council’s Strategic Plan. Unallocated dollars are carried forward each year to fund new initiatives that meet the grant eligibility criteria.

The Social Planning Engagement Group also assessed applicants who submitted proposals for the additional community grant funding of $33,000 that was made available for projects to be undertaken in 2022. The following recommendations were made to Council and approved on January 11, 2022:

  • Kamloops Food Policy Council – $28,129
  • Kamloops Naturalist Club – $5,000

The City’s Social and Community Development Section would like to thank all of the organizations that submitted an application. Your continued support and service in our community is acknowledged and appreciated.
