Fire Crews Remain Vigilant Overnight

July 4, 2021 at 8:55 am  Kamloops, Municipal, News

Kamloops, BC – Overnight, crews from Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) and BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) continued their efforts working towards extinguishing the Kamloops East Interface fire. Three of the supplemental fire apparatus also attended a flare up on the Strawberry Hill fire. KFR will continue to monitor both fires throughout the day.

KFR is also monitoring the fires in proximity to Kamloops and is ready to respond should the need arise. KFR is in close communication with regular updates with all agencies, including BC Wildfire and RCMP. The Emergency Operations team will be closely watching the weather forecast and will gauge its response as necessary.

The Structure Protection Units have been released back to the Province, but may be recalled if needed. “I’m extremely proud of everybody. The dedication and work of all staff has been exemplary,” said Fire Chief Steve Robinson.

The City of Kamloops Emergency Operations Centre will continue to support the fire suppression crews and Emergency Support Services operations.

The City of Kamloops would like to thank residents and businesses for their cooperation and efforts to reduce irrigation in response to the fire suppression efforts. Normal irrigation may resume within regular water restrictions.
