KAMLOOPS BLAZERS ANNOUNCE 2020-21 LEADERSHIP GROUP

Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers announced today that the hockey club has named Connor Zary as the team captain. Montana Onyebuchi, Quinn Schmiemann, Orrin Centazzo and Logan Stankoven were named assistant captains.

Zary is in his fourth season with the Blazers after originally being selected in the second round of the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.

The 19-year-old was selected in the 1st round of the 2020 NHL Draft to the Calgary Flames. He competed with Canada at the World Junior Championships and won a Silver Medal at the tournament earlier this year.

The Saskatoon, SK product has played 188 career games with the Blazers and has 73 goals, 109 assists for 182 points.

Onyebuchi is an assistant captain for a second straight season as he enters his fourth season with the Blazers and fifth season in the WHL. The 20-year-old was acquired by the Blazers in 2018 from the Everett Silvertips as a 17-year-old. During his WHL career, the Dugald, MB native has played 237 WHL games and has added 63 points.

Schmiemann was a third round selection in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft by the Blazers. The 19-year-old was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 6th round of the 2019 NHL Draft. In 121 career WHL games, the Wilcox, SK native has collected 65 points.

Centazzo was acquired by the Blazers with Onyebuchi in January of 2018 as a 17-year-old. The 20-year-old is in his fifth WHL season and has played 243 WHL games and put up 77 goals, 90 assists and 167 career points.

Stankoven is the youngest of the leadership group as a 17-year-old local product. Last season, Stankoven put up 29 goals, 19 assists and 48 points in 59 games. He tied a franchise record for most goals by a 16-year-old in a season. He is eligible for the 2021 NHL Draft.
