New Mental Health Support Group
Kamloops (March 10, 2021)- Kamloops YMCA-YWCA is now offering a group to help adults manage stress, worries and anxiety. With funding support provided by the City of Kamloops through the social planning grant, the new Adult Mindfulness Group is a part of the Y Mind initiative in addition to the Youth Mindfulness Group and the Teen Mindfulness Group. Through this expansion, more adults will have the chance learn strategies to manage anxiety, stress and worries through evidence-based psychoeducational support groups led by trained mental health professionals.
“Low barrier easy to access mental wellness support for adults is really important during this time. Since 2018 we have received numerous requests and referrals for adult mental wellness support in our community which has only increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are excited to be able to address this need in our community and to provide more support to adults in Kamloops.”
– Jenna Nickle, Director
The Adult Mindfulness groups are open to adults ages 30+ who are experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, stress or worry. There is no cost to participate and referrals are not required. Each person also receives a complimentary health and fitness membership to their YMCA for the duration of the program.
