Saturday’s fire in a scrap metal pile at the Mission Flats landfill has TRU Professor of Environmental Studies Michael Mehta wondering if potentially toxic goods could be disposed of in a better way. The fire sent plumes of black smoke into the air causing officials to caution residents to stay indoors as the smoke could be toxic if they were exposed to it for too long. Read more
