Join TRU’s Faculty of Science for the Data Science Seminar Series.

This Wednesday Feb. 10 at 5:30 p.m. join Co-owner and Chief Technology Officer of the consulting company Two Robots Chris Foster as he presents Deep Learning for Self Driving Cars.

Abstract: 

Autonomous vehicles are posed to take the transportation market by storm, ranging from practical in-use technologies like Tesla’s Autopilot to promising research projects like Alphabet’s Waymo. In this talk, we explore the recent advances in technology that have made autonomous vehicles a reality. We’ll take a look under the hood of modern and future autonomous vehicles by analyzing how artificial intelligence algorithms can solve the unique problems faced in autonomous driving situations and gain a solid overhead understanding of how self-driving cars really work.

Biography:

Chris Foster is the co-owner and chief technology officer at Two Story Robot, a boutique consulting company specializing in web application development and machine learning. Foster is the lead organizer for the Victoria Machine Learning Meetup. He holds a graduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Victoria, where he researched applied machine learning models to better understand how language is represented in the human brain.
