New Public Hours for City Hall Starting January
Kamloops, BC – Council has approved changes to the hours that City Hall will be open to the public beginning January 1, 2021. This change aligns with Council’s Strategic Plan to improve fiscal responsibility and enhance operational efficiencies.
City Hall, located at 7 Victoria Street West, will be open to the public from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, except statutory holidays during winter hours (September long weekend to May long weekend), and during summer hours (May long weekend to September long weekend), public hours will be 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
“This change will allow the City to save money and implement stronger financial controls,” explained Kathy Humphrey, the City’s Corporate Services Director. “Reduced public hours provide front-line staff with time at the beginning and end of their workday to implement procedures that cannot be done while addressing visitor needs.”
Over the last few years, the City of Kamloops has digitized many of the processes that used to require public visits to City Hall. Residents can pay for business licences, dog licences, parking passes, and parking tickets online. The City encourages residents to create an online MyCity account to access personal City account information, view current and past bills, and set up eBilling. Residents can also set up automatic payment plans to make monthly payments for their property taxes or utility bills.
City Hall has COVID-19 safety protocols in place and remains well equipped to receive guests during the hours it is open to the public. The City thanks residents for continuing to do their part to ensure everyone’s safety by wearing a mask and practising social distancing when visiting City Hall.
