A Sustainable Holiday Season – Downtown Kamloops
The Holiday Season is just around the corner, and we’re all getting ready. We know you are looking forward to shopping, decorating, and baking. It’s time to spruce up our lives with all of the Holiday festivities even though this year is very different. But there’s something vital for us all to remember when making preparations for Christmas. What we all should take into consideration is how sustainable we are this holiday season. This season is one of the leading culprits for much of the waste that occurs at the end of the year. And here at Downtown Kamloops, we’ve got some tips and tricks to help prevent waste this holiday season. A Sustainable Holiday Season is what we need!
Some of our suggestions on ensuring sustainability are:
- Decorate with energy efficient and durable products.
- Choosing creative, community-centred gifts.
- Wrap presents in newspaper and recycled materials.
- Be mindful of dinner preparations to prevent waste.
Overall, these are great ways to help to get creative and remain sustainable. Each person to contribute counts!
Ultimately, we all must remain conscious of the products that we consume. Because, honestly, who wants our holiday celebrations to end up in a landfill?
