City Announces New e-Bill Option for Dog Licence Renewals

Kamloops, BC – Kamloops dog owners will start receiving their 2021 dog licence renewal notice in early November. In an effort to continue to reduce its impact on the environment, remain fiscally responsible, and improve public service, the City has updated its system to allow for dog owners to register for an electronic renewal notice rather than a standard notice sent through Canada Post.

MyCity is an online portal for Kamloops residents that provides detailed account information for taxes, utilities, dog and business licence accounts; payment processing; e-billing, and access to current and past bills and account payment history.

Register for new accounts at Kamloops.ca/MyCity. Existing account users can login and update their e-billing option by selecting dog licensing as an e-bill option.

When notices are sent in November, dog licence account holders can expect to see:

  • More payment options
To provide better service, the City has launched new payment options through our online payment portal. Pay for your licence online at Kamloops.ca/PayOnline via credit card or one of the NEW options: Visa/Mastercard Debit or Interac Online.

  • Permanent licence tags
To reduce our impact on the environment, the City is implementing permanent tags, which will be valid for your dog’s life, as long as the account remains in good standing. You will no longer receive a new tag each year. Replacement tags will be available for $15 each.

  • Payment deadline change
Payment deadline for 2021 dog licences is December 31, 2020. Aligning payment deadlines with licence expiry dates will improve the City’s fiscal accountability and create efficiencies. Licence rates remain unchanged. Late payments will receive a $32.50 penalty, which will be applied to your account after January 1, 2021.

  • Coming January 2021 – e-Apply
Dog owners registering a dog with the City for the first time will be able to register their dog’s information and pay online at Kamloops.ca/MyCity from the comfort of their own home. Within city limits, all dogs six months or older require a licence. Individuals who wish to obtain a new dog licence for the current year are encouraged to visit Kamloops.ca/Dogs

Dog owners are encouraged to register their dog account through Kamloops.ca/MyCity in advance of October 31, 2020, to take advantage of receiving an electronic notice with a quick link to online payment.
