Council and Staff Thank Local Transit Riders

Council and Staff Thank Local Transit Riders

September 8, 2020 at 3:35 pm  Kamloops, Municipal, News

Kamloops, BC – Following BC Transit’s adoption of a mandatory face-covering policy, which took effect August 24, City staff and Council were at Kamloops transit exchanges this morning to hand out masks to the public and thank Kamloops transit riders.

Councillors Bass, Dudy, Hunter, O’Reilly, Sarai, Sinclair, and Singh were at the Lansdowne, North Shore, and Thompson Rivers University transit exchanges along with City staff.

“This was a great opportunity to connect with transit riders and thank them for their ridership in these uncertain times,” said Cheryl Fraser, the City’s Transit Planner. “Everyone seemed appreciative of the effort.”

While face coverings are mandatory, the policy is an educational step without enforcement. The educational position is aligned with TransLink and other transit agencies in Canada.
