Women’s Health & Wellness – TRU Newsroom
When The New Normal, Is Not Your Normal— How Changes in Our World Impact our Health and Wellness as Women | Hosted by HR Health & Wellness and presented by Dr. Faren Brogan, ND.
Description | The past six months have been a learning experience for us all. One that has forced us to adapt numerous times, and sometimes at a whim. In this time, our bodies have gone through two complete hormone cycles, which means that symptoms, emotions, or signs our body is telling us, may be an echo of what stressors were in our lives, or are a reflection of stressors we are currently trying to manage. In this presentation, Dr. Brogan will take you through how stress affects our HPA axis, our main cortisol controller, and the role that can have on our female hormones and the symptoms that then present themselves. She will also provide some best practices to help avoid future burnout, as well as some general tips and tricks for staying healthy through this next cold and flu season.
Meet Your Presenter | Dr. Faren Brogan is a Naturopathic Doctor, practicing out of the Thompson Valley Naturopathic Clinic, located downtown Kamloops. She moved to Kamloops from Ontario, in 2018, after completing her Bachelor of Health Science with Minor in Psychology at the University of Ottawa, followed by medical school at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. In practice, Dr. Brogan focuses on helping women of all ages reach their health potential and goals, whether it is fertility based, hormonal imbalances due to stress, or transitions into menopause. She employs the Vis Medicatrix Naturae, the healing power of nature, through nutritional interventions, botanicals, acupuncture, and lifestyle counselling, and her goal is that every patient leaves their appointment feeling confident that they have been heard, that they are on the right path, and empowered in their health.
Please note: This Lunch and Learn will be held via MS Teams. Sam Nielsen, Campus Wellness Advisor, will send you a calendar invite link. If you do not receive an email, please message her at snielsen@tru.ca. Please note that TRU OLFM’s will not be paid for attending this presentation.
