Research photo contest opens – TRU Newsroom
Open the door, and let us see what knowledge creation looks like from your point of view, and in doing so, help add to our understanding of the world around us.
Students and faculty at TRU have long been engaged in research and creative inquiry, and now we ask our knowledge creators to share their stories in visually compelling and engaging ways.
Worth 1000 Words: Research in Pictures is a contest aimed at providing creative and accessible entry into your labs, classrooms and studios. This is our way of celebrating the ground-breaking knowledge-making that is taking place each and every day at TRU.
Capture a moment under the microscope, in the lab, in nature, or on your computer, show us how your work impacts the community we live in, or how it answers questions of global relevance. Show us the fun moments, the unexpected surprises, and the flashes of true engagement and understanding.
Worth 1000 Words is now open. Photos can be submitted into four categories: Art in Action, Community Engagement, From the Field, and Microscopic Mysteries. The deadline to enter is March 1, 2020. A prize of $500 will be awarded to best photograph in each of the four categories, with additional prizes awarded for Best Description, and People’s Choice.
Photographs will be curated by Professor Donald Lawrence, and exhibited during Research Week (March 23-28, 2020). At the exhibition’s conclusion, selected pieces will travel to the Xchange Lab at the Station on Tranquille Road, making TRU’s research and creative practices accessible to all.
