Art Exhibition: Life Without Mirrors – Kamloops Muses’ Self Portrait Show
July 10 – Aug. 10, 2019
in the KAC Galleries at the Old Courthouse Cultural Centre
“Life Without Mirrors” is a collaborative art exhibition by a diverse group of local artists identifying as ‘Muses’. This eccentric group of artistic spirits met through a creativity coach over a decade ago and have exhibited together locally many times over the years.
In the Kamloops Arts Council’s Galleries, this exhibition will showcase two dimensional and three dimensional pieces with a connecting theme of self-portraits. Historically, artists used self-portraits as a kind of calling card, attesting to their ability to capture a likeness and giving a sense of their capabilities – not to mention having a free model on hand.
Theoretically, a self-portrait can truly expose one’s emotions, thoughts, past, present, and future through the beautiful umbrella of artistic expression. By imaginatively finding other mediums to seeing into a looking glass, you will be delighted to see works of photography, clay sculpture, floral design, watercolors, and written word to name a few.
You may even recognize a face or two.
